Tractor Restoration

The Tractor Restoration Team is an after school club that meets Friday nights from 6:30 PM - 9 PM in the Ag Mechanics shop. Each year, we start with a rusty old tractor that needs both mechanical and cosmetic work. The end result is a shiny tractor that looks and runs like new. We do everything from rebuilding the engine to installing new tires and everything else in between. The tractor then gets raffled off at the Goshen Fair at the beginning of the next school year.
This is a great program, because not only do we get to work on tractors, but it also teaches problem solving and develops an interest in the restoration hobby. We get help from many local sponsors with donations of parts and services. One of our biggest sponsors is Titan Tire who donates brand new tires to us at no cost.
This past year, we restored a 1952 John Deere B. Some of the major issues we addressed through the year with this tractor were the sheet metal, the governor, and the transmission. Once the tractor was done, members of the team sold 800 raffle tickets leading up to the drawing at the Goshen Fair on Sunday, September 3. The tractor was won by Cliff Burrell from Granby. We hope that Mr. Burrell enjoys his new tractor, and thank him and everyone else who purchased tickets for supporting this successful program. We look forward to our project for the 2017-2018 school year!
