This year's officer retreat was a truly “puzzling” experience, as we went to a mystery room in Middletown, Connecticut. When we arrived at the building, we had no idea the mental challenge that lay before us. Not only was this a mental challenge, but also a challenge that made the team work together cooperatively. We all had to talk and listen to each other's ideas to put them together to escape the room. We broke into two separate teams that divided the officers and advisors up. As we worked through the adventure, we had to make our way through each room methodically to solve puzzles leading up to the key that unlocked the last door to escape. Amazingly, both of our teams escaped, but Mr. Brittain's group escaped first, making them the winner of the great officer team challenge. This was a terrific team event, because it made us have to talk to each other and communicate ideas with one another. Without each officers' ideas and thoughts we would have never escaped. This built friendships on our team and created a group that could problem solve together, both are important skills that will help the team benefit our chapter. After the puzzle room, we ordered delicious pizza and salad which was a nice end to a busy day of team work.
